Maria Santana and President-Elect Eric Miller
present the District 7620 Governor’s Gold Citation
Award to the Club. This is the second straight
year that the Rotary Club of Hunt Valley has
been awarded both the District Gold and Rotary
International Presidential Citation awards.

Book Sales to Benefit Houck Foundation

The
Rotary Club of Hunt Valley and the James W.
Houck Foundation, Inc. have announced an exciting
opportunity for members and the local community
to support the Foundation and our Four-Way Test
Program.
Local
author and photographer
David Simpson has generously offered to
donate 20% of all Club sales of his new book
"Loch Raven" and its accompanying posters
and note cards to the Houck Foundation. The
hard-bound, coffee table style books contains
100 pages of beautiful color images of Loch
Raven Reservoir are available for $45, posters
for $20, and note cards for $5.
We
have a number of signed books available and
they can be obtained at any Club meeting or
by contacting us via email at
support@huntvalleyrotary.com. Online purchases
through the Foundation will be available after
March 15 at
www.JWHouck.org.
Holiday Food & Fun Drive

Once
again this holiday season, members of the Club
raised over $1000 in cash and loads of food
for area food banks. We are grateful to
our membership and Graul's Padonia Road for
allowing us to conduct our ACTC food drive on
December 12.

Wine Tasting a Success!

Congratulations
to Nancy Young and her team of ‘event pros’
for a wonderfully successful Wine Tasting held
on November 14. Over 130 attendees feasted on
Hayfields’ fine cuisine, the delicious wines
of Four Corners, and supported our Foundation
and Nepal Project by bidding on gift baskets,
sports memorabilia, and Nepali goods. Over $3500
was raised from the event and the district has
awarded a $5000 matching grant. Well done everyone!

at this year’s Legacy Chase. Over $3,000 in
program sales was raised during the day in which
we were assisted by volunteers from Hereford
HS and Johns Hopkins University. Thanks for

Club Service Awards Presented
to Nine Members (Posted: 7-9-09)
The
Rotary Club of Hunt Valley presented awards
to nine members for their contributions throughout
the 2008-09 Rotary Year. The Club's Rotarian
of the Year award was presented to International
Service director Nancy Young. Ken Higgins,
president of Heavenly Ham, received the Service
Above Self award for his generous support of
the Houck Foundation's Four-Way Test Program.
New member Lauri Funk received the Rookie of
the Year award. Finally, Club Service
awards were presented to Irving Spitzberg, Dorrie
Talbott, Jeanne Brandenburg, Matthew May, Krista
Jacoby, and Don Giacomelli.

Paul Harris Fellowships (Posted: 7-9-09)
Four
members of The Rotary Club of Hunt Valley were
recognized as Paul Harris Fellows at the 2009
Changeover Banquet. Named for the founder
of Rotary, Paul Harris Fellowships were established
in 1957 to express appreciation and recognition
for an individual's contributions to The Rotary
Foundation. First-time recipients were
Dieter Langendorf, Mark Gillett, and Greg Pierce.
Matt May was recognized as a Multiple Paul Harris
Fellow.

Houck's Heroes Raffle! (Posted: 6-9-09)
The
Houck's Heroes Raffle winners were drawn at
the club meeting on June 3rd. Prizes were
awarded to: First Prize - Tom Thibeault; Second
Prize - Peggy Stansbury; Third Prize - Sharon
Devin; Fourth Prize - Linda Burton; Fifth Prize
- Bud Ledvinke. Thanks to all for your

Rotary Club of Hunt Valley
Receives District Award (Posted: 5-26-09)
Rotary
District 7620 presented its Gold Governor's
Citation to the Hunt Valley Rotary for the 2008-09
year. President-Elect Maria Santana received
the citation on behalf of the club during the
District Conference Cruise to Bermuda.
The award recognizes outstanding participation
in District and leadership activities throughout
the year.
Interact Club Raises
Funds for Water Project. (Posted: 5-21-09)
Members
of Dulaney High School's Interact Club have
raised $700 for the Hunt Valley Rotary's Kyrgyzstan
Water Project.
Under
the guidance of teacher and coordinator Niamh
McQuillan, the group raised funds through sales
of pizza and popsicle sticks through the school
year. Congratulations and thank you all!
Jane Lenhard Presented
With Paul Harris Fellow (Posted: 5-7-09)
Jane
Lenhard, widow of Charter Member William (Bill)
Lenhard, was named a Paul Harris Fellow in recognition
of the Lenhard's contributions to Rotary and
The Rotary Foundation.
Bill
passed away on January 31, 2009, and was a multiple
Paul Harris Fellow. A memorial services
is planned for Bill later this month.

Dinner held recently in Laurel, MD .
Rotary
International President D.K. Lee of South Korea
was keynote speaker for the event, which is
held in recognition of major donors to The Rotary
Foundation.
